Established in the year 1973, Chitwan National Park is the first national park in Nepal also designated in the World Heritage list by UNESCO since 1984.The park lies in the lowlands f Terai region, covering the area of 932 km per square of subtropical lowland. The park consists of diversed ecosystems, including the Churia hills, ox-bow lakes and the flood plains of the Rapti, Reu and Narayani rivers.
What makes it ideal for Jungle safari ?
Chitwan National park is home to more than 50 mammal species, over 525 birds, 55 amphibians and reptiles and most importantly it has been declared as a sanctuary for one-horned rhinoceros. You get to explore the lush green forests and its species through an elephant safari, one may also get a glimpse of elusive Bengal tiger. The park has a display at the 'Visitor Centre at Sauraha' which provides fascinating information on wildlife and conservation programs.
